Everyone knows that the kitchen is the heart of the home. It is important that our kitchens are clean, comfortable, and homey feeling. When our friends and family come over to have a cup of coffee and talk it is important that they feel at home in your kitchen. When having friends over for dinner the best part of the evening is when everyone is gathered in the kitchen talking while you are cooking the dinner. If you have a cluttered and dirty kitchen then no one is going to feel comfortable in it.

Adding little touches all over the kitchen area will help your guest feel more at home. Try adding something as simply as a picture or a vase. Any small item can add more warmth to the kitchen. Try finding something that will fit into the kitchens decor. When you use the right color scheme on the wall and furniture it will only enhance the comfortable feel.

Do not use bright colors because they seem to intensify a room. Instead add light and warm colors to help bring out the peaceful side of the room. Some people like to add wood to their kitchen. Wood helps to bring out the cozy side of things. Add a simple wooden dish rack, or a wooden pot rack. There are many things you can do with wood items in your kitchen.

A great way to use wood in the room is to add a wooden dining table. There are several types of wood tables like cedar, maple, oak, and many more. If the chairs that go with your table are cloth you can try recovering them to get a different feel for the room and to make them match the decor better.

Adding bar stools to your kitchen will also lend that homey feel to the room. Bar stools can give you more seating options and let your friends sit closer to the cooking area while you are making dinner. Try using plants to make the room more inviting. You can put them in a corner of the room or even on the top of your cabinets.

Keep your kitchen from getting cluttered or crowded. When there are too many items in a room it starts to feel cluttered when your guest and family try to gather in to talk and visit. When being squeezed into an over crowded room it is difficult to be comfortable.

When you start to feel that your room is too cluttered you should do a cleaning to get rid of things. Look around your kitchen and find everything you can do away with. You could add a few wall shelves to give you more space, organize, and to add beauty to the room.
