Gardens in Cheshire are renowned to be amongst the best English country gardens you will find, no matter what time of year you visit. This is the green fingered belt of the UK, and over 1 in 8 of all gardens visited in the British Isles are in Cheshire. This county was also the home to the 2008 "Year of the Gardens".

Rhode Hall is famous for the snowdrops in February and Cholmondeley Castle is famous for sweeps of daffodils in spring. Award winning gardens such as Arley Hall has something of everything on show and the Rose Walk in Norton Priory is just as famous. For Autumn splendour the Japanese Garden in Tatton Park is a magnificent blaze of colour when the maple leafs turn and both Lyme Park as well as The Ness Botanical Gardens are just as splendid. Not matter which f these you choose to visit, you will be in for a rare treat.

Imagine how many garden centres there must be in Cheshire, with everyone competing to have the most stunning gardens?

Cholmondeley Castle is worth a special mention and not to go into too much depth, this is a magnificent Gothic Castle with gardens that have been around since the 12th century. There are various walks to enjoy and these can be taken in, or the visitor may simply wander where they please. To celebrate the Queens Silver Jubilee in the 1970's Bakewell created a "Silver Garden on the grounds. This is not to be missed and it feature vines and leaves in silver and wrought ironwork. The newest part of the grounds is the rose garden which was completed in the 1950's.

This castle has been occupied by the Cholmondeley family since the 12th century, a very long time! The present Lady Cholmondeley has been the most avid developer of the gardens as wee see them today however.

Cheshire is also home to Arley Hall and these award winning grounds are used for many film shoots as well as weddings and other events. The Temple Garden is the centerpiece with is lake filled with Koi and beautiful azaleas as well as other colourful flowering shrubs. After the Civil War Arley Hall was rebuilt and the temple was moved from the old grounds to the new!

It is reputed to be the garden with the oldest herbaceous border in the British Isles, this is a double border which was laid out in 1846, before they became so popular. This award winning garden is still the family home of the Egerton-Warburtons, however the award winning gardens are used for filming, weddings and other events.
