What Is Hypnosis And How It Can Help You

Posted by Minh Anh On 12:18 AM 0 comments
By Samuel Jones

Hypnosis is a method by which an alternate state of consciousness is achieved without using any external chemicals or drugs of any kind. It is thought that a subject who has been hypnotized reaches a relaxed state, in which he is more open to suggestions. This idea has led to several uses of hypnosis, of which hypnotherapy is the most important.

Hypnotherapy is a therapeutic method in which the subject is hypnotized by the expert. This treatment acts as a cure against negative thinking and anything else that is bothering the patient's mind.

A person who comprehends hypnosis can understand the functioning of human mind better. Thus, a hypnotherapist would know the real causes that might be hindering a person's growth and removing such roadblocks with constructive thoughts could give a huge relief to the person.

Evidence shows that a big number of cravings find a very good remedy in hypnotherapy. It is also helpful in treating stress, improving self-confidence level, and alleviating pain and depression. It is an excellent remedy for childhood problems as well and can cure common issues like bed-wetting and recurrent nightmares.

Hypnotherapy not only helps in personal problems but also in removing shyness at the workplace and therefore it helps you improve your effectiveness at work. There are many people who have discovered effective solutions to their professional troubles through it. It eradicates fears of failing and instils cheerful and self-assured thoughts in the person's mind. Well-known politicians and business tycoons have experienced personality development through hypnotherapy, and have gone on to become better orators and experts in human management, thus doing well in their careers.

A discussion on hypnosis won't be complete without mention of self-hypnosis. It helps in unravelling a lot of personal enigmas and eradicating all the destructive thoughts that have been bothering you. Mental drill and peace are both achieved through regular self-hypnosis. It is widely believed that 1 hour of hypnosis equals almost eight small sessions of lie-downs, so self hypnosis provides an excellent way to rejuvenate and recuperate as well.

Hypnosis is often mistaken for occult, but that is not true at all. In fact, science and psychology have an excellent part to play in it. Moreover, it is an extremely safe therapy because no drugs or chemicals are used in the process. It is great for people of all ages who want to change their life for the better.

Charity ratings are something so inconsistent that highly rated charities might easily find themselves outdone in rating by unknown ones that materialize out of nowhere. Charity Water is a representative though new sample of this. The power of the online medium and ingenuity are helping brand new charities to drive their ratings sky high. A charity that may not have any rating one day might be considered as one of the top of the chart charities by the New York Times the next day and their rating would then go through the roof in no time.

As the public can be easily influenced by the charity ratings that the agents of mass media give, it is very easy for a completely new charity to grow very fast and be able to attract a wave of charitable donations to their side. For the same reason, when they become less popular with the media, their charity ratings also go down.

Charity rating directory listings

With steadily rising distrust and morality guardians of charity being ever suspicious of charity problems like transgression, having pretty large amounts of money spent on the running of charities or mishandling of funds, listings of charity ratings are booming. It is real quaint that humanitarian institutions that are meant for giving others are under the watchful eye of charity watchdogs. The whole idea of benevolence is getting a bit problematical!

Organisations like Givespot.com and Guidestar.org list detailed charity ratings. Givespot.com has a detailed list called the GiveSpot 100 list, which shows its top 100 rated charities. Other organisations like charitynavigator.org have charity check systems as well as a charity Top Ten list so that look up a charity is easy. Guidestar.org is probably the biggest US charity directory offering an amazing array of charity information some free some at a cost. The Better Business Bureau in the USA, despite its name is also charity directory that lists both business and non-profit organisations.

With enough charity rating guides, there is no data shortage for anyone who wants to get information on the 100 top charities, but what constitutes real rating is something different. What in reality makes a charity superior has nothing much to do with its ratings. There are characteristics that make an organization, whether charity based or otherwise, stand out from the rest.

Charity Ratings and faith in the public

A YouGov poll of 2005 stated that about 56 percent of the British population did not have a considerable amount of belief even in well known global charities like Oxfam and Save the Children. Even among the charities that had a good charity rating, only about 15 percent enjoyed the public's belief in them.

Charity Critics' Warnings are profuse

Belief in charities is at an all time low these days. Public can hardly be blamed for this. Charity watchdogs are ringing warning bells of charity institutions spending even up to 60% of the amount collected on overheads that include big salaries for managers so that very little remains for real charity giving.

It has been shown in recent studies that the expenses for raising funds in places like UK and Australia amount to about18% in the case of the former and 22% in the case of the latter. The corresponding amount in USA is about 30% according to the Association of Fundraising Professionals. These are without administrative expenses, which might be higher. This is a big issue with donors especially in situations like what happened in Singapore a few years ago when the issue fell under the media scanner. This sort of negative attraction leads to a reduction in charity giving which is definitely not a good sign.

Charity ratings mystery revealed

There is practically no difference between a charity and a commercial enterprise when it comes to the question of drawing money. They way they put the money to use might be different, but the techniques they use to get that money are more or less the same.

In order to get the funds necessary for functioning, as well as to improve the charity ratings, there is only one assured way - make it tempting.

When we look at something and consider buying it, investing in it or connecting with it, we make an instant decision based on how attractive it is to us. If the level of attraction is high, we are highly interested and take action quickly and of course if low, we take our time or decide no.

Charity Water is highly attractive and hence why it's charity-rating sky rocked so quickly and the media got behind the idea. The simple idea of selling a bottle of charity water for a premium price with the extra profit been giving as a donation to the needy to access clean water was highly attractive.

The factors that make Charity Water quite fascinating and promote its rating are the following.

* They have a cool name - who would think of calling a charity Charity WaterThe person behind the charity was on overdrive with passion in sharing about their idea

* Their idea of the vocation and their message is lucid, plain and remarkable - sell water and give water - Buy One Give One

* They gave importance to the solution and not to the problem. This is an assured way for any charity to get a good charity rating in the public's eye. People by and large have no interest in being reminded of the miseries of life. They prefer to feel elated. So in this case when they know that their act, that of buying a bottle of water, can affect the lives of others positively, they are glad.

How to instantly reduce one's Charity Ratings

The fastest way for a charity to lose its rating is by making itself less appealing by concentrating on the problem. People are hardly inclined to listen about all that negativity going on in the world. On the other hand, most people are ready to listen to sagas of vigour, eagerness, drive and dedication to fashion a better world.

We only need to observe ourselves with our own children and experience how when our children ask us for something in a fun and lively and enthusiastic way we just want to say yes. And when they ask us for the same thing in a whinging and whining way we say no very quickly.

The images that a charity uses will affect its charity ratings. Using uplifting and inspiring images will uplift and inspire people. Uplifted and inspired people give more and spend more.

Social Enterprises improve Charity Ratings and solve the problems in Getting Funds

Social Enterprise is a new business pattern that evolved a few years ago. This combines trading with a social purpose. This pattern is a result of the interest of some businessmen who have social objectives but does not find the type of functioning of charitable enterprises satisfactory enough.

Many socially conscious businessmen may find the ambience of a full fledged commercial venture and its decision making mechanism unpalatable. For such people a social enterprise is an apt field where they can use their business acumen and inspiration effectively to solve social problems and usher in changes. One of the best known among such socially aware entrepreneurs is Muhammad Yunus who won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2006. He was the first business man to be given such recognition.

A comparatively new global social venture, Buy1GIVE1, also known as B1G1 (Buy 1 Give 1), combines commercial activities with noble causes and charity organisations across the globe. Buy1GIVE1 has reduced the costs of administration and fundraising so completely that it is able to give away the whole of the funds it gets. It functions in a way quite similar to online enterprises like Kiva.org, which has been given support by Bill Clinton; Buy1GIVE1 is a substitute for the conventional style of direct giving to charities. Lots of people find them a more practical way for making donations while receiving valuable things in return.

Business leaders who are looking for opportunities to give back in effective ways and give to worthy charitable causes, see the great value and well-defined key marketing advantages businesses like Buy1GIVE1 offer. Each sales transaction makes a difference - and not just in an altruistic sense. With powerful 'impact-matching', businesses are gifted with an eye-opening, attention-grabbing marketing story. Compare the business that gives away a million dollars to charity with the one that lets their customers experience the joy of giving with Buy1Give1 transaction-based giving.

Enterprises like Buy1GIVE1 provide details of charity requirements, especially those which are really needy causes, and these always manage to attract lots of donations. Entrepreneurs understand very well the fundamentals of these equations and so are more likely to help such causes rather than worry about the charity rating. They know very well that people have an inherent tendency to respond to a more touching requirement, than simply to media rating.

Maple Muesli of Australia has allied itself with a charity called Midday Meals in India, in the city of Mumbai. As a result when a packet of muesli is bought, a needy kid is given food in Mumbai. Since a simple meal is available there at the cost of 30 US cents, Midday Meals daily manages to feed about 125,000 kids. The charity feeds these children in schools and it helps substantially in protecting children from begging and other harsh realities and abuse of street life.

Maple Muesli has familiarised the whole of Australia with the noble cause of the Midday Meals. The company has made all its customers aware of the stupendous service the charity is doing and how their money is helping it. This has made Midday Meals tremendously popular even though all they are doing is providing meals for the kids. The era of Effective Giving has dawned - that of Plain Charity Donations is disappearing at the horizon.

A change is impending in the setting of the top 100 charities and would become visible in a few years as more novel and productive ways of charitable giving take shape. Nowadays only limited choices exist for making donations for charitable purposes. All the existing ones are not good enough to create enough difference.

Alternative Charity Ratings

Newer and varied ways of gifting things to others are rated and featured in the table given below. These are Charity Comparison Data.

We have compared and rated a few well-known and less well-known charities and Social Enterprises on areas that are important to their donors.

THE SALVATION ARMY

ROUTE TO GIVING: DIRECT GIVING

The Salvation Army is one among the most well-known 100 charities of the world - Both individuals and enterprises make contributions directly to it.

OPENNESS - B - Not sufficiently open - Plenty of money is being collected - but the results are not always completely clear.

ADVANTAGE TO BUSINESS - C - Even a single donation to Salvation Army by a business might find mention in the press.

COSTS OF FUNDRAISING - B - Huge amounts are spent every year for raising funds.

DONORS' CHOICE POTENTIALS -B- For those who want to give directly, there are plenty of charities to choose from.

PROMISE FOR GLOBAL CHANGE -C- No potential noticed for bringing about a market change.

PRODUCT (RED)

WAY TO GIVING: MARKETING CAMPAIGN

Product (RED) is a brand that enters into partnership with companies, which then creates products with its logo, a percentage of which goes to fighting AIDS, TB and Malaria in Africa.

CANDOUR - B - Insufficient candour - Lots of money is donated - but result is not completely quantifiable.

ADVANTAGE TO BUSINESS - A - People and enterprises by and large prefer to support it as it is promoted by popular idols like Bono and Oprah. End result of marketing is not correctly available.

COSTS OF FUNDRAISING - C -Simply splurges money on advertising - it would be far better if that money is sent directly to Africa.

CONTRIBUTORS'CHOICE OF CHARITY - C - Partner businesses do not have much choice in the charities that receive their contributions - all are in Africa.

PROMISE FOR GLOBAL CHANGE - B - All partners of Products (RED) are huge ventures and the entire profit is spent on helping people of Africa.

THE BODY SHOP

ROUTE TO GIVING: BUSINESS TRADE & GIVING

The Body Shop is involved in community trade to help economically backward countries and makes large donations to causes from the profit they generate.

TRANSPARENCY - B - Lack of transparency - sum of money is contributed for every purchase - but result is not fully measurable.

ADVANTAGE TO BUSINESS - A-tve - Clients are by and large happy to become part of the community trade and are encouraged to buy more - the enterprise could afford to be more visible.

EXPENSES FOR RAISING FUNDS - A - Costs are kept low - Business design is good enough to attract large contributions and further community trade.

CONTRIBUTORS'CHOICE OF CHARITY - A - Businesses can choose where their money goes.

ABILITY FOR EFFECTING A CHANGE - B - The ability of the business to give back to the society is good - still few make the required additional effort to press on for change.

LIVE EARTH

PATH TO GIVING : EVENT FUNDRAISING

Live Earth was a series of music concerts for a global audience held on July 7, 2007 which kick-started a three-year long campaign to fight climate changes across the world.

OPENNESS - F - Intelligent Giving had reported that the takings from the concert tickets sales were not accounted satisfactorily.

MARKETING VALUE TO BUSINESS - B - Business sponsors got good coverage - but it was only a one time event and it is not easy to test and measure results.

EXPENSES FOR RAISING FUNDS - C - Substantial sums were spent on promotion of an event which was considered a fiasco by many as it did not have any proper objectives.

DONOR'S CHOICE OF CHARITY - C - Only three charities could manage to get funds.

POTENTIAL FOR REAL GLOBAL CHANGE - C - These events are usually held one-off or annually. Money is often given to larger, more established charities.

Buy1GIVE1 (B1G1)

PATH TO GIVING : SOCIAL ENTERPRISE

B1G1 is a brand licensed to form a partnership with any business - connecting them with any worthy cause in any place. A truly universal precept.

OPENNESS - A - The one for one style of giving sees to it that the donors' money reaches the specific cause that it is meant to help. Donors are provided information on how exactly their money is being utilised - how many kids were fed or how many trees were planted.

ADVANTAGE TO BUSINESS - A+tve - Outstanding marketing value due to:

* Calculable giving * Media interest * Effective stories * Person to person * Returning customers

FUNDRAISING COSTS - A+tve - Zero costs - B1G1 can take care of a charity's fundraising needs including a large percentage of admin as well. 100% of funds received go to the charity.

DONOR'S CHOICE OF CHARITY - A - Any donor can contribute to a specific charity, or they can insist on giving to specific causes such as food, environment, or instruction.

POTENTIAL FOR REAL GLOBAL CHANGE - A - Exponential. If more businesses partner charities globally, the potential for real change is massive.

You Would Think Giving away Money Would Be No Big Deal!"

You would think that giving money is easy - pull out a wad of cash, write a cheque or punch in your credit card details. Yet, billionaires philanthropists like George Sores , have gone on the record as saying that effective giving is one of the hardest things to do. Developing nations receive billions of dollars every year and yet it often seems like nothing changes much.

People make changes by asking probing questions about the problems they find in front of them. The winner of the Nobel Peace Prize, Mohammed Yunus, by his introduction of the new category of banking known as Microfinance has made groundbreaking achievements in solving social problems and is leading the way in showing how social enterprise and consumption of goods can positively change the world. Other such ideas worth emulating are that of Buy1GIVE1 or 'Trade - Not Aid' of The Body Shop. The overwhelming importance of social enterprise has to be fully appreciated.

When queried as to how someone can effect a change in the world, Bill Gates pointed towards organisations like Buy1GIVE1 (www.b1g1.com) and Kiva.org which reward the giver richly. Kiva.org ensures that those who sponsor a business get regular updates via email from those businesses. Buy1GIVE1 also ensures this. With such communication, customers get a clear picture and come to know the stories behind the charities. For example, when they buy a laptop, someone who badly needs a computer might be getting it at some other corner of the world.

Other methods for improving your Charity Ratings

Ensure that you have an inquisitive mind, and remain connected to a computer, and spare some time to find out about the new types of charities and how they function. These programs are mainly based on networking and work through the internet.

Today if you are not linked in with powerful global networks through the Internet you are missing out and no matter what your charity rating is today, tomorrow things will change - radically.

Many enterprises emerge out of thin air nowadays and grow enough in the matter of maybe three years to be sold for more than a billion dollars. This was unconceivable ten years ago, though today it has become a routine state of affairs. All these online enterprises are doing the same thing - drawing on international networks or themselves making international networks.

Buy1GIVE1 (Buy One Give One)

Buy1GIVE1 is a relatively new Social Enterprise founded by a Japanese lady called Masami Sato in'97. Today any business anywhere in the world can be a Buy1GIVE1 member, with membership for small businesses only costing $1 per day and contributions starting from just 1c per sale. Buy1GIVE1 is leading the Buy One Give One transaction-based giving global movement. Working with Buy1GIVE1 is easy for a charity worthy cause or a business. Their model is unique, flexible and inspiring. A business simply marries any or all of its products or services with a charity project (Buy1GIVE1's or their own) and then every time they sell something record the sale and pay their contribution each month or quarter direct to their cause or through Buy1GIVE1.

You are strongly advised to create lasting bonds with Buy1GIVE1 and also motivate your business associates to join Buy1GIVE1. It is a singular and wonderful organisation doing stupendous work and no one can afford to ignore it.

A new epoch in charity giving

Institutions that no one had heard about even a few months ago, are today bombarding the cyber world with booming user acceptance. People strongly prefer have a place on sites like Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, YouTube, NING or TipJoy. One should also create strong bonds with companies like Buy1GIVE1, Kiva or The Present. These are the realities of the future which are imperative for sustaining and building charity ratings. Now is the chance to fashion an ideal new future.

Talk Using The Language Of Flowers

Posted by Minh Anh On 12:13 AM 0 comments
By Christine Jackson

Dating back to historical times, flowers have been a profession of kindness. We usually give them to those we love and care about. We gift flowers to show them how important they are, to show admiration, to celebrate occasions, or even to sympathize. What we don't know is that giving certain kinds of flowers, and even their colors, actually have definitions of their own.

The Language Of Flowers

During medieval and Renaissance times, flowers were often given moral meanings. This can be widely seen in art where saints are often portrayed with flowers that represent or symbolize their virtues. In an edition of Sixteenth Century Journal, Liana DeGirolami Cheney stated that "some of the Christian symbols for Virginity or Chastity are the white rose, the myrtle, a vessel or vase, the lily, and the unicorn."

Back in Victorian times, flowers were used initially to create or add emotion. The language of flowers, often called floriography, began being used as a discreet form of communication. During the 18th century, sending coded messages using flowers became popular. Based on Persian Salaam, a Turkish secret language of flowers, a coded bouquet was sent to express feelings of attraction, even love.

A book entirely about flower meanings by Madame Charlotte de la Tour, "Le Language des Fleurs," dates back to 1819. A similar book, "Language of Flowers" by Kate Greenaway, was written in 1884 and is still being used today.

Japan also has their variant of floriography, called "Hanakotoba." Greeting cards made in Japan use the Hanakotoba code, and still apply the flower-language in popular culture such as in movies and animation, like the anime program "Wei Kreuz."

Favorite Flower Meanings

Buy or borrow a dictionary of flowers to see the several meanings and interpretations of flowers. Some of the most well-known flowers and their significances are written below:

Buttercup - riches Pink carnations - a woman's love Chrysanthemum - love in general Forget-me-not - true love Lavender - devotion, distrust Purple lilac - first emotion of love White lily - purity Peach blossom- long-life Red rose - true love Sunflower - pure and noble thoughts Yellow tulip - hopeless love

Hypnosis - What It Is And What It Is Not

Posted by Minh Anh On 12:12 AM 0 comments
By Winnie Cox

Hypnosis and its subset, hypnotherapy, have always been steeped in misconceptions. Some consider them to be some type of spell while others refuse to even recognize their existence. Following are some of the popular myths about hypnosis and the truth behind them.

Hypnosis has nothing to do with black magic of any kind. It is a very simple technique, which can be understood without much difficulty with the help of psychology and other scientific methods. The genuineness of hypnosis is doubted even by people who have seen it working on subjects. They hold that the people who have undergone hypnosis are mentally not strong enough to resist the impact of the practitioner. But this again is a complete distortion of truth. Hypnosis can be exercised on anyone regardless of his or her levels of will power.

Another belief is that hypnosis is an altered state of consciousness, which again is a big misconception. A hypnotized person is completely aware of his environment. That individual is just in a calm state where the concentration levels are very high and the person can receive suggestions easily.

Another myth, which has been circulated by some researchers, claims that hypnosis can be applied on merely 5% of the human population. Researchers have hit upon this low result because they have made use of the identical hypnosis technique on all subjects without considering their individual traits. One hypnosis procedure for all is not a viable solution as different individuals come under different character types, and therefore respond to different methods.

Many people take hypnosis to be a form of meditation. But while hypnosis is an interaction technique, meditation is all about a mental state and usually has nothing to do with communication. Similarly, a state of trance is also sometimes equated with hypnosis, which is not correct. Trance is again a state of mind devoid of any communication, whereas communication forms the very foundation of the hypnosis method.

A majority of people believe that it is not possible to bring about alterations in one's looks and conduct through hypnosis training or hypnotherapy. Hypnosis is obviously not magic that it can transform the physical appearance of a person on its own. However, it can guide the body to a better shape through behavioural transformations like eating in a controlled manner, and quitting smoking and other addictive habits by ensuring a high level of motivation in a person.

Hypnosis, and specifically hypnotherapy, can have a significant function to play in the overall welfare of a person, and not giving them a try just because of some misconceptions is a missed opportunity.

One of the unexpected fees that usually accompany a small business is the cost for processing credit cards. Wireless credit card processing recognized globally as technological advance can significantly reduce the overall costs involved in creating and sustaining a small business that accepts credit cards.

When a person is using a wireless credit card processing system, they are not required to complete the credit applications of each credit card provider that they want to accept. There is one application form that, when completed, provides across the board approval for processing all of the major credit cards.

Using the processing system does not require extra equipment or expensive tools. A simple hand held swiping machine can be used with a laptop or PC. It is connected to your computer with a USB and the software for the system is included.

Fee structures and hidden costs can significantly affect the overall net profit of a new business. The problem of hidden fees becomes even more apparent when you cannot collect charge backs, get refunds credited timely, or must pay for non-qualified transactions. These fees can begin to eat into operating budget quickly.

When you use a wireless system, there is only one flat service fee and no hidden fees. It is easy to calculate the minimum charge for items and include the costs of card processing in the price of items to offset the flat rate. In addition, there is no contract involved with the wireless system.

Using Paypal for wireless credit card processing gives you all of the merchant protection that Paypal offers their customers. There are not the usual problems with charge backs and refunds that you run in to with most major credit cards. The tracking of credit card purchases and contact information is easy to use and creates an avenue for following up with your customers.

Spring powered gun are generally reloaded by pulling backward its bolt or slide in airsoft rifle or gun respectively. Gas powered airsoft guns:

Gas powered airsoft guns are designed with techniques based on gas. These gun use gas such as propane, co2 gas etc. Unlike spring powered gun you don't have to cock the projectile every time you fire. These guns are installed with chambers consisting of pressurized gas in the form of liquid. These gas is passed into a firing chamber where it extensively expands resulting in propulsion of projectiles. It should be known that a blowback gun is usually costlier than any conventional gas based airsoft gun. In this type of guns the pressure of the gas makes the slide of the gun depict a backward jerk. The blowback gun is highly preferred as the backward jerk of the gun at every shot makes it look more realistic. While using these guns you do not have to really reload the gun every time, as the mechanism automatically prepares the gun for the next shot.

Electric airsoft guns are powered by an internal rechargeable battery and an electric motor reload these toy arms automatically. This airsoft guns category can be further classified into two types automated and semi automatic. So you need to determine which one you will be comfortable with. It is obvious that most people would like to go for fully automatic airshot guns. However, if you also consider your budget then it should be known that evidently automated guns are costlier than semi automatic gears. These automated guns are available in many types, such as automated rifles, submachine guns, airsoft sniper rifle, pistol etc. Based on your convenient and type of activity you can choose an appropriate rifle for yourself.

While selecting a competent automated airsoft gun you may also want to consider the RPM or Revolution Per Minutes and Rate of fires. The more is the revolution and rate of firing bullets the higher is the competency of the gun. Any conventional automated gun may offer you a firing range between 100 and 600 ft/s and the rate of rounds per minute can be between 100 t0 6000 gunshots. This may vary from product to product.

It is also important to determine the activity to be performed by your gun. If you are planning to practice by firing at any object from a distance, it is suggested to buy a conventional electric airsoft pistol or airsoft rifle with low cost and considerable efficiency. For such activities spring powered airsoft guns can effectively serve the purpose. However, if you are going to participate in tournament level or even recreational airsoft games, then it is recommended to choose a high quality and competent airsoft gun for your game. This will not only provide you convenience but will also enhance your chances of winning.

There are chances that you may find a good airsoft rifle at nominal values, although you may have to do a bit of shopping and evaluate the deals offered to you. This will definitely provide you with extensive options, enabling you to ultimately choose the ideal match. Hastily buying any incompetent guns is an inappropriate decision. While shopping for your airsoft gun you may also come across gas co2 airsoft guns. These guns are powered by gas and are also efficient products to meet the requirement. However, most people opt for electric airsoft guns to help them play the games.

Internal Hemorrhoid

An internal hemorrhoid is a condition comprised of veins that become swollen and inflamed inside the anus. They are mainly caused by a poor diet and decreased fiber intake. Straining also causes them as well as obesity and pregnancy. Usually diarrhea and constipation are associated with them as well.

Although keeping your diet under control helps ease the pain, it does not always make the hemorrhoid or the pain go away. There are many natural herbs that people have found help not just ease but often cure painful hemorrhoids. Witch hazel is a liquid that is softly rubbed on the area to lessen the swelling. Butchers broom is another herb known for contracting and strengthening the veins. Ginkgo biloba improves blood flow and lessens the swelling. a final herb known for calming the irritation is mullein. Each of these herbs can be found at a local GNC or vitamin store.

Another common and simple hemorrhoid home remedy is the application of ice and heat to shrink the hemorrhoid and encourage it to heal. Apply ice, such as a single ice cube, to the hemorrhoid or the anal area, for at 10 minutes every day. Then apply a moist, warm towel to the anal area for up to 20 minutes. This is best done after an aggravating bowel movement that has caused pain or irritation to the hemorrhoid.

A natural remedy for hemorrhoids is the inclusion of more fiber in the diet. It both prevents and cures the problem of hemorrhoids. Types of food that are high in fiber include grain products, fruits, vegetables, nuts, and seeds. These can be food items such as whole grain breads, dried peas and beans, almonds, avocado, and berries.

The first home treatment for the relief of hemorrhoids is applying a topical moisturizer. One of the common hemorrhoids causes is dehydration, and applying a topical moisturizer can help ease the pain by rehydrating the skin on and around the hemorrhoid. Prior to applying a moisturizer, be sure the product is designed for the treatment of hemorrhoids. Other moisturizers could cause a stinging sensation or possibly infection.

There are a number of natural remedies on the market to help with hemorrhoids pain. Some of them are designed to help with the pain only, making life more comfortable, while others work to get rid of the swelling. Calmovil is an all natural supplement that will help to insure proper blood flow, putting an end to the swelling and inflammation and thereby alleviating hemorrhoids pain.

The True Story Of The Ali/Inoki Fight

Posted by Minh Anh On 12:44 AM 0 comments
By Ross Everett

While mixed martial arts fighting has only recently become popular in the United States, contests between fighters of different martial arts disciplines have taken place in Japan for many years. They weren't called "mixed martial arts" until recently, but they were definitely an embryonic form of the now booming sport. Many of the most famous events of this type took place in Japan during the'70's involving pro wrestling legend Antonio Inoki.

Inoki would often face other martial artists in fights that are widely accepted to have been "worked" (having a predetermined outcome) in the same manner as professional wrestling matches. While Inoki faced a number of karate, judo and boxing champions his most famous match was certainly his fight against world heavyweight boxing champion Muhammad Ali.

There's still much speculation about how Muhammad Ali came to fight Japanese wrestling legend Antonio Inoki, and even more uncertainty about what happened immediately before and during the fight. Ali took the booking because he thought it was to be a big paycheck for little work. Most accounts suggest that his handlers agreed to the 'worked' finish without his knowledge, and once he found out that he was to 'take a dive' he refused.

The rules that were in place on fight night were so ridiculously one sided in favor of Ali that it almost defies belief. Inoki wasn't allowed to hit Ali with a closed fist, nor strike him in the head at all. He was also prohibited from using any sort of choke or submission maneuver. Most problematically, he was prohibited from trying to take Ali to the ground. In other words, Inoki was basically not permitted to do anything that would threaten Ali with any sort of physical harm.

Despite the repeated howls from the media that the fight was 'fixed', it was anything but--it was a real fight and painfully boring. Ali did next to nothing, Inoki did whatever he could within the one sided rules. Eventually, Inoki spent most of the fight on the ground trying to throw kicks at Ali's legs. The event ended up as a 74-74 draw. Both fighters got paid, and the fans got to watch a fight albeit a really, really bad one.

The fight was officiated by former pro wrestler "Judo" Gene Labell, a legendary tough guy considered at the time to be the 'baddest man on the planet'. He could have easily beaten up both men, possibly at the same time. That might have provided some much needed entertainment to liven up the tedious charade masquerading as a fight.

In the aftermath of the fight, Inoki's popularity was greater than ever--in a perverse way he was something of a hero due to his trying to fight despite the rules being stacked so soundly against him. He remained one of the country's most popular professional wrestlers and even enjoyed a career in Japan's parliament. Without missing a beat, he quickly resumed his series of fights against other martial artists who were apparently all more comfortable with the "worked" environment of pro wrestling. Among his "victims" was none other than Leon Spinks, presumably serving as some sort of vindication for his draw with Ali. The popularity of these matches led to a number of promotions that were essentially hybrids of martial arts and pro wrestling, and these led to the big Japanese MMA promotions of today.

Sports book futures bets are an increasing popular and potentially profitable way to wager on the outcome of a full season. There's a few common mistakes that novice players make that can be easily avoided by paying attention to the following:

Don't bet at the first place you look: In other words, shop around for the best price. This is essential to all aspects of sports betting, but especially important with futures wagers. You'll find more disparity between prices from book to book on futures than any other betting proposition. From a theoretical standpoint, a little work can yield much better value. From a practical standpoint, that means a higher payout should you win. The reason for this is that individual sportsbooks' aren't as worried about what the other guys are doing as they are with most other bets. Once the futures "market" is set books move the lines almost exclusively on their own financial position. The market simply doesn't respond as quickly to futures wagers as it does to individual game lines so it is essential to do the extra work to get the best price on your proposition.

Don't try to pick the winner in a competitive marketplace: This may sound sort of counter intuitive since the general idea of betting on futures is to determine the actual winner but it's really not. Like everything else, its essential to always be mindful of the value you're getting. In a futures market with several legitimate contenders at the top the price offered is seldom high enough to properly compensate for the risk you're assuming. Here's an example: in a hypothetical NCAA hoops tournament Duke is +200 to win the national championship. They've certainly got a shot, but at a payback of only 2/1 its hard to justify a wager at this point with the potential for so many interceding events that can make a championship more problematic. Such events as injuries, a tough tournament draw or even just going into a slump at the wrong time can happen to any team but when you bet a higher priced team--a 'dark horse mid major at 15/1 for example--you're getting "compensation" for assuming the "risks" of betting on a proposition with so many unknown variables.

In more theoretical terms, the 'true odds' of a Duke or similar top team winning the tournament are almost always higher than the price offered. Think of it this way--say we're betting Duke to win the national title at 2/1. This means that the Blue Devils would have to win more than 33% of the time to break even. So lets say, for the sake of argument, that we could play the tournament over 100 times. Would Duke come out on top more than 33 of these times? If not, they represent a poor value. Let's say that they win 30 of 100 times. This means that any price under +333 or thereabouts is a poor wagering value.

Note that the more competitive the market, the more difficult it is to find good value on the favorites. Since you can make a case for quite a few teams to win the NCAA tournament at this point this particular futures market is clearly a very competitive one. In a less competitive marketplace it might be possible to "pick the winner" and have it be a good value though you will pay a price for this. Here's a (thankfully) hypothetical example: let's say the UFC decided to hold a one night round robin tournament with 5 competitors. Competitor #1 would be heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar. The other four competitors would be professional figure skaters Elvis Stojko, Rudy Gallindo, Brian Boitano and Evgeni Plushinko. Even if he didn't bring his "A game", Lesnar would be essentially have a 100% certainty of beating the four untrained fighters, who also happen to be rather effeminate. If a sportsbook installed Lesnar as a -1000 favorite a bet on the 63 265 pound takedown would still be theoretically a good value. It's always difficult to risk so much to win a little, but from a strictly theoretical standpoint its a good play.

Don't try to make a huge profit with little risk: Sports betting provides few opportunities to make a 'big killing'. It may happen occasionally, but even the big payouts when it occurs doesn't make chasing big longshots a good value. If you're serious about sports betting it is crucial to maintain your focus on the underlying numbers and look for value at all times. If you want to take a longshot at a huge jackpot, play the lottery but don't try to do it at a sportsbook.

On a more theoretical level, a big price alone is no way to justify a wager. The concept of value works the same at the bottom of the barrel as it does at the top: make sure the price you're getting on an underdog accurately reflects their "true odds" of winning.

Don't bet one-sided futures or propositions: Though many of these are not futures per se, a lot of sportsbooks offer silly propositions on nonsport events as a way to get publicity, or just to be funny. Its important to make a distinction between this type of silly bet and more realistic nonsport propositions which frequently present good wagering value. Im talking the really outlandish stuff here. Not too long ago, a sportsbook posted a line on Martians landing on earth and painting the White House red by the end of the year. The "YES" was +2500 or thereabouts, which is far from reflective of the "true odds" of this unlikely event. Even if you're the type that collects classic Art Bell shows on tape and believes in UFOs you wouldn't place the probability of this happening at more than a fraction of a percent. The book only offered the "YES" side of the proposition, meaning that you couldn't lay even a huge price on the more likely outcome. Another book had a futures offering for what would happen first with Ashton Kutcher, Demi Moore and Bruce Willis. All of the options were very unlikely--Ashton and Bruce fighting on PPV and my favorite--and the longest odds--Ashton, Bruce and Demi hopping in bed together and releasing a porno video documenting the event. You'd receive a sizable payback if any of the events ever transpired, but I'm not exactly sure how to compute the "true odds" on "when pigs fly.

The Washington Redskins are a mess right now. Head coach Jim Zorn has a tenuous hold on his job at best and after Sunday's---6 loss to Kansas City was stripped of his offensive play calling duties. Management installed newly hired 'offensive consultant' Sherman Lewis as the new offensive play caller and the team has set up an awkward arrangement for him to get the plays to the quarterbacks. For that reason, starting QB Jason Campbell has some serious misgivings about the efficacy of the setup.

Lewis has only been out of retirement and with the team for two weeks, and has spent this week trying to ingest a crash course on the Redskins' offensive schemes. While he was learning on the job, head coach Zorn was trying to put the best spin possible on what can only be seen as a de facto demotion and vote of 'no confidence':

"I need to have composure. I need to understand what the reality of the situation is, and I think our players expect me to rise up. We expect them to play under adverse conditions. We expect them to risk it all. ... I'm conscious of what's going on. I'm not naive about what's going on, and yet I have to just hold back on any feelings and make the decisions."

Quarterback Campbell is more concerned about the convoluted system of getting plays from Lewis to him:

"There'll probably be a couple of plays I have in my head just in case if some reason it doesn't get in on time."

Here's how things are supposed to work-Lewis will sit in the coaches' box above the field and read the plays off a sheet. While Lewis has years of experience working in the so called 'West Coast Offense', Zorn left doubt that he really knows what he's doing at this point stressing that Lewis "doesn't know the protections" and "doesn't know the blitz schemes." Nevertheless, he'll be running the offense when the Redskins take on Philadelphia this Monday night.

Once Lewis figures out what to call, that's when it really gets tricky. He'll relay the plays via headset not to Zorn but to offensive coordinator Sherman Smith. Smith will then inform the quarterback what to run. Zorn is left in the role of a passive bystander on offense, though he will listen in to the playcalling on his headset.

Backup quarterback Todd Collins also shared his concern with the new arrangement:

"It is unsettling. I've never gone through this before. I've never had a play caller get changed in the middle of the season."

Lewis didn't exactly evoke a lot of confidence upon his hiring, where he revealed that he'd been calling bingo games at a seniors' center to kill time since his retirement in 2004. Still, Collins gave him a guarded vote of confidence;

"I know he's been studying last year's game against the Eagles and seems to have a pretty good idea how he wants to call the game this week. It's the same plays. He might coach them a little differently or highlight some different areas, but the offense hasn't gone under an overhaul or anything like that."

The Redskins haven't scored more than 17 points in a game this season, so maybe the thinking is that things can't get any worse.

Renato Babalu Sobral defeated Bobby Southworth by TKO to become Strikeforce light heavyweight champion at the 'Destruction' card. Despite leaving with the belt around his waist, it wont be the centerpiece of Babalu's highlight reel with the way it transpired.

A -350 wagering favorite despite his challenger status, Sobral was expected to use his world class Brazilian Jiu Jitsu skills and vast experience against superior competition to dominate the tough but limited Southworth. It didnt happen that way, as Southworth easily got the better of things in the first round. Southworths style isnt exactly one that provides Wanderlei Silva type excitement--he looks to use his strength and conditioning to control his opponent en route to a decision victory. While the result makes him something of a MMA equivalent to boxing's John Ruiz, it does afford him the best chance of victory.

The first round displayed Southworth's style in microcosm, with much of the frame spent pushing Babalu up against the cage or on the ground inside his guard not really doing much. Sobral had one effective strike the entire round--during a clinch against the cage wall the challenger rocked Southworth with a hard elbow strike that not only busted his nose but opened a huge cut over his right eye.

Upon seeing the gusher of blood Referee John McCarthy brought the ringside physician over to take a look. The doctor took some time to examine the cut, but eventually the round resumed following the consultation with only a few seconds remaining. As Southworth's corner futilely worked on the gaping wound during the break the doctor once again took a look and recommended to McCarthy that the fight be stopped. As a result, Sobral was awarded the TKO victory and the championship belt.

The other half of the co-main event was decided in much more decisive fashion as Scott Smith knocked out well traveled veteran Terry Martin in a mere :24 seconds. The rap against Martin has always been that hes a slow starter, but he had the right gameplan in theory as he pushed Smith to the cage wall right after the opening bell. Unfortunately, Martin didn't adequately close the distance against a fighter dubbed 'Hands of Steel' and was caught with a perfectly placed punch that knocked him out cold.

In the semifinal event, Duane 'Bang' Ludwig defeated Yves Edwards by unanimous decision in a very closely contested bout. Edwards was originally slated to face lightweight champion Josh Thomson until a toe injury necessitated his withdrawal.

Earlier in the evening, Kim Couture made short work of overmatched Lina Kvokov as she TKOd her foe in 1:44 of the first round. Couture, the wife of UFC legend Randy Couture, gained even more notoriety for the courage she displayed in her professional debut last June. After having her jaw broken early in the first round, she refused to throw in the towel and went the distance despite a horrific injury. She had a much easier time here"despite the fact that both fighters entered with 0-1 records Couture was significantly more polished as she put Kvokov on the defensive from the outset with her sharp punching combinations. Kvokov kept displaying the rookie mistake of trying to turn away from Couture's blows. The reprieve was only temporary, however, as Couture launched another barrage of punches prompting the referee to step in and wave off the non-competitive affair.

How To Select A Corporate Photographer

Posted by Minh Anh On 12:33 AM 0 comments
By Lady Frank

There are many business events, such as the visit of an important customer, or a big symposium, for which you need to capture the happenings in form of photographs. This is where event photographers come into the picture.

Photography for an occasion is an entirely different skill, in comparison with other types of this art like landscape photography or fashion photography. This is basically because events happen fast and the photographer has hardly any control over the proceedings. To be able to do well at event photography, a person obviously needs ability, plus he must also have a solid experience behind him. But most significantly, a corporate photographer hardly ever gets a second shot.

There are some important things that you need to know of before you go ahead and choose an event photographer. Ability to adjust the equipment so that it works well in an indoor setting is necessary, because most corporate venues do not have any sunlight. You must also ensure that the photographer does not bring with him a low-end camera with poor resolution or lack of adaptability to lesser light.

You will save yourself a lot of hassle if you go to a good agency, which will provide you the services of a trained professional. You can ask the photographer if he has worked on such events before to ensure that he will be capable of handling the situation well. A professional agency should also be able to offer you customer feedback on past work.

Lastly, you should try to acquaint yourself with the chosen corporate photographer and communicate your requirements in detail. This step is the most crucial, as without proper communication it would be impossible for the photographer to know what your exact expectations are, and for you to be convinced about his services. In addition, once you have discussed things out, the event photographer would be much more at ease and sure about delivering well on the job.

How To Save Money On Wedding Photography

Sometimes the cost of wedding photography can be high in price. Not everyone can afford extremely high priced photos of their perfect day. Here are a few money saving tips when budgeting for wedding photography.

Advertising for a photographer

An excellent place to advertise is at a local college or university They will have fresh skills and ideas when it comes to wedding photography, and they will cost a lot less.

Go digital

Go digital instead of getting prints. This will save you a profuse amount of money. You can now choose this as an option because most photographers will offer you the idea. Get a CD rather then prints and proofs of all your pictures. After you receive your CD look at online photo developers to print to photos for you.

Put your own album together

Scrap booking is an excellent way to personalize all your pages. No one will know your wedding and guests like you do. Scrap booking your wedding photography is a great way to go through your pictures and reflect on the moments. You will enjoy creating your album and not only that but you will also save hundreds of dollars opposed to having your photographer design an album, and they may not include pictures that your friends sent you as well.

Watch the time

How long do you really need your photographer around you? Instead of having them come with you when you re getting your hair done, make up done, and dress sized just get them to come for the ceremony and a bit of the celebration afterwards. A great way to get pictures of the bride preparing for the wedding is to have the bridesmaids take the photos.

Did you think about disposables?

Having disposable cameras at the reception is also an excellent idea. After everything is said and done all you have to do is drop them off at a photo development outlet, then go through the ones you really like and make larger prints for frames around your house. You will probably end up getting a few funny photos but a lot of wonderful ones as well. This will also give you a wide variety of pictures because your guests will be taking pictures of each other and not just at the bride and groom. Adding more detail to your album.

A corporate gift is an essential tool to forge lasting relationships with customers and employees. Judicious selection of the gift is necessary, taking into consideration the fact that a corporate gift has diverse roles to play in an organization's performance.

Collar pins are both attractive and come in different colours and patterns, and therefore are perfect as corporate gifts. New design technologies in collar pins further enhance the usefulness of these pins as they can even have a company's name engraved on them. They can even bear the company's message and can be made in the form of a product the company deals in or manufactures.

Both employees and customers like collar pins because of their exclusive association. While the employees feel connected to their organization, the clients feel a sense of relationship too and relish collar pins as corporate gifts, therefore they help in keeping the customers devoted to the company.

Budget is another factor that determines the selection of a corporate gift. The basic value of collar pins as impactful gift items is much higher than their market price, thus any investment on them is always beneficial. The versatility and applicability of collar pins make sure that they are happily carried around by people on different occasions and are not just placed at one place for adornment. They can be worn everyday to work or elsewhere, which allows them to garner a lot of attention, thus popularising the company's brand.

However, organizations should take into account some critical factors while making a decision to give away collar pins as corporate gifts. They must ensure that they are durable enough as it will make sure that people wear them .

The second factor is printing of design on the collar pins, which must be logical and attractive so that it increases their prospects of being worn on a daily basis. However, if the pin is too flashy or if it lacks symmetry in design, then people may reject it. Moreover, the convenience of use must be a prime consideration at the time of designing collar pins as corporate gifts.

Corporate gifts are good marketing tools as they make sure of greater brand visibility when a recipient uses them in the public. In this respect, collar pins suit perfectly like no other corporate gift does. They are a reliable marketing tool and have been successfully used by organizations for years. Considering all the unique qualities that collar pins have as corporate gifts, companies that have been unwilling in using them must wake up to their potential.

Your wedding photographer might be the most significant person in your wedding group besides the individual actually performing the ceremony. This is the person who carries the responsibility for recording the memories of your special day, and making sure that every important moment is photographed. It is very important that you check first the work of different photographers so you will be able to pick out the best one whose style and vision matches what you want to have on your wedding day.

For a smooth running photo session, here are a few tips:

1. Construct a list of all of the photos you desire. Name exactly what you want! State exactly who you want pictures of, and at what point and in what setting. It is important to determine the amount of coverage you prefer as well. The wedding day can be segmented into four photographic sessions which are: the pre-wedding photos, the ceremony, the organized set shots or location shoot, and the reception.

2. Talk! Let people know where to be for the photo shoot and when to be there. Be certain that they understand when, where and what to wear.

3. Ensure that the wedding photographer comprehends all your requirements which should be agreed to in writing and signed by both parties.

4. Respect the process. Your wedding day is your special day. However, if you are feeling stressed, try to put yourself in the photographer's shoes as he tries to assemble all the necessary people and elements for a photo. Members of the bridal party, friends, relatives, family members -- everyone mingling, chatting and getting in the way.

You can make the entire process smooth for all involved and ease your mind, if you follow the steps above. You can ensure that the ceremony commences according to schedule and that every person goes to the reception before the food disappears! Your wedding pictures will be great if you are considerate of you wedding photographer, since his job is to photograph the memories you are making on your wedding day.

Don't Use Urine To Treat Acne

Have you been considering visiting an acne clinic in an attempt to locate a cure for your acne? Do you know what kinds of things you should look for in an acne clinic, how to tell whether or not they are effective, and whether their treatments are really safe with no undesirable long-term side effects?

Are you aware of the plans they offer and how it will influence your daily lifestyle? Do you know if they fall under the jurisdiction of any regulatory body and/or if they comply with any laws as far as prescribing treatments for certain ailments?

When they treat you with a prescription, do you really know what the treatment is, the way it functions, and how the different ingredients affect your body? If you take any other medications, are you aware of any possible reactions that could occur when you add their newly prescribed medicine to the mix? Are they knowledgeable enough to be able to advise you as to any possible drug interactions?

Does the clinic that you use ask about other parts of your day-to-day living and come up with a comprehensive approach to remedying or easing your problem -- after all, acne is not just a skin problem.

Has your curiosity been aroused by these questions? Have you asked yourself if the clinic you go to or are thinking of going to regarding your acne is actually a good place for you to go and the right thing for you?

There seems to be a human tendency to have blind faith in science, and we are quick to trust those who have letters appearing after their name (even though we usually do not know what they mean). We should know more about the personal agendas and priorities of people who are caring for us and our precious skin.

If we were aware of this, most likely we would not just carelessly stroll in from the street and believe what the so called professionals tell us just because they work at a clinic. Recent events illustrate that some products recommended by certain acne clinics are not necessarily safe and/or effective. One example is a product by the name of Accutane that was recalled by manufacturers because it was shown to be dangerous.

On our web page, we try to give you balanced information based on common sense about acne, how to get control of it, what to do to ease the problem. Also we take a more natural, comprehensive view of dealing with it. Our website will assist you in finding a way to resolve your acne problem.

So many companies dream of going public to raise massive amounts of capital, as set up for an exit strategy, to make acquisitions with stock and for many other reasons. While your intentions may be pure and with genuine motives, you're entering shark infested waters of boiler rooms, crooked attorneys and underbelly consultants who have made careers off of taking well intentioned executives just like you for a 24 month rollercoaster ride while they take every penny you have as your company shrivels up like week old road kill.

Just and honest consultants in the 'public offering' industry are as rare as the illusive white elephant. This industry exists in a cesspool surrounded by rose gardens; from afar it looks amazing and an image of a dreamland but get up and close and the sludge and odor are enough to make you run and hide. So what do you look for in a consultant? The best consulting firms are the 'boutique firms' with minimal overhead that keep a low profile and are made up of 3 or 4 'partner' consultants.

These firms typically have the experience of working with the large consulting groups but for one reason or another have decided to leave and go out on their own. The great thing is, these small groups typically have massive contacts and process your entire public offering in-house. Offering a complete turn-key solution that is managed in-house offers a huge advantage because there is accountability and you can actually build a relationship with the people that are making your dream of a public offering come true.

These 'boutique' consultants will usually stay onboard as growth consultants for the life of the company in exchange for modest fees and a pre-IPO or pre-OTCBB equity position. The large firms will hack you out at the knees and gouge you with fees while they take massive amounts of equity in your company which takes away your bartering chip when you need to offer more stock to the public to raise capital.

The small firms will also work one on one with you to show you how to use your stock to grow through acquisition and other nifty ways to use stock to grow. Seek out the boutique consulting firm and save the attorney for spot audits. Hold on to your cash. Why pay outrageous fees to lawyers when you can pay 60% less with a small consulting firm that will add all the bells and whistles for free and actually get your stock trading, usually in half the time?

Helio Gracie--patriarch of the legendary Gracie MMA family--died earlier this year in Rio De Janeiro at age 95. His influence on martial arts, and even more so the sport that is known known as mixed martial arts, is staggering. The Gracie family name will forever be synonymous with Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, MMA and the UFC due to the accomplishments of Helio Gracie and his progeny.

Helio Gracie began studying martial arts early in life, and by the age of 16 had already begun to teach judo in his native Brazil. While Helio had no problem mastering the theoretical aspects of judo, he found that many of its techniques required a great deal of brute strength which made them less effective for a smaller fighter such as himself. Along with his brother Carlos, he began to adapt many of judos techniques to make them more reliant on leverage rather than strength. This experimentation led to the creation of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) which is often referred to as Gracie Jiu-Jitsu in his honor.

Gracie also had a professional fighting career, taking on champions from other disciplines in a forerunner to modern mixed martial arts. These bouts were grueling, unregulated affairs with rules that were often made up as they went along and time limits that seem barbaric by todays standards. By his own recollection, he had 15 fights against the top fighters of his day. He began his career in'32 by submitting professional boxer Antonio Portugal (whod likely never even heard of a submission at that point, let alone experienced one) in just 32 seconds. Later that year, he fought American catch wrestler Frank Ebert to a draw after the ringside doctor ordered the bout stopped after an ungodly fourteen ten minute rounds.

His most famous battle was against Japanese judo legend Masahiko Kimura, resulting in a rare loss for Gracie. Despite the setback, he fought bravely and may have actually enhanced his legend after refusing to submit to a reverse arm bar (the same move that now bears Kimuras name). Only after his arm was broken did his brother Carlos throw in the towel.

Gracies influence on the Brazilian sports scene, and later the nascent sport of mixed martial arts, would continue through his family. Married twice, he had seven sons (Rickson, Royler, Rolker, Royce, Relson, Robin and Rorion) and two daughters (Rerika and Ricci), many of whom went on to make their own mark on the fight sport world. Royce Gracie is well known as the first UFC superstar, while sons Rickson Royler, Renzo have also achieved considerable fame in professional MMA. At the time of his death, Helio Gracie was a 6th Dan Judo black belt and the only living 10th degree master of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

The cause of Gracies death was officially given as natural causes. He had been having stomach problems for several days prior to his passing, and was admitted to a Rio hospital for this reason. His seriously epic last words will go down as a fitting envoi to a man who gave so much of himself to fighting:

"I created a flag from the sports dignity. I oversee the name of my family with affection and nerves of blood.

Steelers End Vikings Undefeated Run

Brett Favre and the Minnesota Vikings are undefeated no more. The Pittsburgh Steelers' used a couple of big plays from their defense in the fourth quarter to break open a close game and defeat the Vikings by a final score of 27-17. Favre put up decent yardage in the loss, throwing for 334 yards but had no touchdowns and an interception.

NFL pointspread players who backed the Steelers as -6 home favorites were rewarded with the cover. Pittsburgh had only covered one of their first six games heading into the contest, and the win improved their record against the number to 2-5. Minnesota dropped to 4-3 against the spread with the setback. The 44 points scored went UNDER the posted total of 46'. It was only the Vikings' second UNDER of the season against five OVERS, while the Steelers have gone OVER in four of their seven games.

The Steelers largely shut down Minnesota's rushing game, holding Adrian Peterson to 69 yards. Pittsburgh safety Ryan Clark underscored his team's dominance against the run:

"That's the biggest point of the game. You have the best running back in the world and you don't give it to him. They're saying they can't beat us running, and that's a major statement when you have the guy they have back there."

Favre gave a mealy mouthed justification for the loss in his postgame interview:

"There were a lot of what ifs, a lot of reasons we didn't win. The red zone was one of them. They're physical, and they were as good as we thought they'd be. ... When I came here and looked at our schedule and saw the Steelers game, I went, 'Oh-h-h.' "

Favre has only thrown three interceptions in a Vikings' uniform, but #3 was a costly one as it was returned by Steelers' Keyaron Fox for a touchdown to put the game out of reach as Minnesota was driving for a potential game tying field goal. Afterwards, Fox recalled the play:

"Brett tried to force it in there and the running back bobbled it and slipped out of his hands and it fell into my lap. I had just run across the field after Peterson and I was winded, so it felt like it was 100-plus yards."

The Vikings now face another big game next week as they head to Favre's old stomping grounds in Green Bay for a battle with the Packers. It'll be Favre's first appearance at his old home in an enemy uniform. The Vikings are a +3 road underdog with the total set at 48. The Vikings will then have a bye weekend before hosting the lowly Detroit Lions on November 15. Pittsburgh will enjoy a bye week this week before returning to action on Monday, November 9th facing the Denver Broncos on the road.

MMA Flashback: Aoki Beats JZC In Rematch

After a controversial no contest in their first matchup, there was no doubt as to the winner of the DREAM 2 rematch between Shina Aoki and JZ Calvan. Aoki controlled the fight from the opening bell and used a wide repertoire of submission attempts to keep his opponent off balance and on the defensive. Perhaps the most impressive element of the one sided victory was Aokis dominance of the ground game, which many observers considered to be JZs edge in the contest.

Aoki scored early with a takedown and controlled Calvan on the ground, working a heel lock attempt before taking his opponents back and attempting a rear naked choke. He was never able to complete the hold, but maintained a bodylock on JZC for the rest of the round. In the second, Aoki put on a submission clinic and demonstrated his ungodly flexibility as he spun from an armbar to a triangle choke and back again. Calvan was able to counter or escape, but looked completely out of sync as he generated almost no offense whatsoever over the 15 minutes.

Aoki was very emotional in his postfight speech to the crowd. JZC had grumbled about the no-contest in their DREAM 1 matchup, and the one sided decision made him even more dejected in his postfight press interviews.

With the victory Aoki advances to the semifinals of the lightweight GP tournament. Thats the plan at least, as Aoki made some statements in the Japanese press leading up to the fight that win or lose there would be no way hed be ready for the next round with only half the preparation time as the rest of the field.

The rest of the card was devoted to the opening round of the middleweight GP tournament. Taiei Kin defeated Minowa-man Ikuhisa Minowa in a very closely contested and entertaining fight. Despite Kin taking a 3-0 unanimous decision (DREAM judges, like their PRIDE predecessors, judge the fight in its entirety) the first round could have gone either way. Minowa was clearly tired in the 2nd, and that likely sealed the deal for Kin.

Korean judoka Yoon Dong-Sik also advanced with a unanimous decision victory over Shungo Oyama. Most of the damage in this fight came from Yoons ground and pound from full mount, and he controlled the tempo from the outset. Two one sided contests followed, with Zeleg Galesic submitting Magomed Sultanakhmadov via arm bar in a minute and a half of the first round. That was followed by the MMA debut of former Pac 10 wrestling standout Ian Murphy, who had a worst case scenario draw against BJJ specialist Ronaldo Jacare.

The psychological profile of business proprietors and entrepreneurs in general boasts the critical 'Risk Taker' element which allows one to take the leap from the financial security of a 9 - 5 job to the dicey waters of action based, success based income generation meaning: No Sales = No Money and No Food.

Many of these risk takers function within the realm of right brain communicative as opposed to left brain analytical which passes over the critical detail oriented solutions that are mandatory for raising capital. It is crucial for someone of this profile to hire a professional to come in and cross the t's and dot the i's in preparation for corporate fundraising efforts. After this is facilitated the entrepreneur needs to prepare mentally and emotionally for the turbulent road ahead.

Raising capital is no easy task and after the company is properly structured and you have an investor finder service, market maker or broker dealer in place to sell or promote your funding cause, you must step back, take a deep breath and prepare yourself mentally and emotionally. This preparation should start with the concept of 'objectivity' when you talk to investors, some will love your business model while others see an investment in your company as a waste of time. You must take these critiques, good and bad with a grain of salt. Don't get caught up in the habit of emotionally reacting to these ideas from outside sources, don't allow your mind to attach itself to an investor's idea of your company or it will drive you insane and you'll find that these emotional ups and downs will find their way home as your family will quickly be affected by your emotional fluctuation.

The second thing you must do is read and absorb the knowledge in such books as "The 48 Laws of Power" and "The 33 Strategies of War" by Robert Greene and of course "The Art of War" by Sun Tzu. These books deal with strategy that can easily be translated into the business world and can help you prepare mentally for the art of fundraising. Read these books cover to cover and then read them again. Absorb the intricacies and strategies that these books offer and make it a point to use these concepts in your daily professional life; believe me, you'll be glad you did.

The next thing you want to do is to study great strategists like Napoleon and Machiavelli. One thing that you will realize almost instantly is that these investors are out for their own gain, period (Why wouldn't they?). They will try to attract your attention with the right hand while their left hand is reaching in your financial records looking for chinks in your corporate armor to make their case for more equity for less investment. You need to be able to analyze, not just the words of the investor but also all the other elements of their expression such as: intonation, facial gestures, eye movement, standing and sitting positions and other 'tells' that can give you an insight to what they are truly trying to communicate so you can anticipate their next move. These are just a few things to consider before entering the world of venture capital. Raising money for a business is a daunting task only to the unprepared.
